Principal's Message

August 1, 2020

Dear Charnock Families,

I hope this letter finds you staying healthy and enjoying summer despite the difficult circumstances.  It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Charnock Road Elementary School and to join this special school community.  Although we may not be able to meet in person for a while, I am looking forward to meeting everyone soon virtually and making the new school year a great one despite the challenges we face.

I come to Charnock with more than 15 years of experience in education and LAUSD.  I have worked with students and teachers from kindergarten to sixth grade in both elementary and middle school.  Most recently, I have served as an assistant principal at Warner Avenue Elementary School.  I am thrilled to now bring my passion and skills as an instructional leader to Charnock and to partner with families and staff to ensure our students’ success.

In addition to being an educator, I am a mother and wife.  I have a four-month-old daughter who was born during the pandemic.  Although it has been difficult dealing with the quarantine, I have been enjoying family time and learning to be a mother.  I grew up in Southern California after my family and I immigrated from Korea.  Since I understand how challenging it is to learn a second language and adapt to a new culture as a child, I am committed to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment that supports all learners.

I believe wholeheartedly that every student deserves the absolute best, students should be the center of all decision-making, and school should be a joyful place. I look forward to working with parents, teachers, and staff to provide the absolute best and joyful learning for Charnock students. I welcome your input and support throughout the year.

In closing, please know that my door is always open to you.  Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns.

Best regards,

Kari Lee
